On-Demand: Using Data to Avoid Catastrophic Failure of Your Chemical Process

Regulation and Best Practice ensures businesses handling hazardous materials must adequately assess and consider their process in full, including maloperation. Many risk assessments can be chosen, but risk assessments based on invalid data or assumptions may be wrong. A Basis of Safety must stand on accurate and relevant process safety data. Literature may be available, but consideration must be made as to how the process manipulates or converts the material to a more hazardous state. The best way to ensure assessments are appropriate is to test materials in their native and processed form.

Testing should emulate a worst-case scenario, so that if the worst happens the process is designed adequately. Industrial Explosion Hazards testing of fine “dust” materials, gasses and vapours, and electrostatic properties can inform: first on avoiding potential for explosions; secondly that your equipment on plant can deal with such a scenario. Chemical Reaction Hazard’s testing explores the inherent reaction heat present in any desired reaction, or unwanted decomposition mechanisms and possibility of runaway reactions. Knowledge of such properties allow for proper design and processes, from early stage at R&D to production and validation of old systems.

What you’ll learn:

  • What parameters should you test to ensure your system can withstand an upset or catastrophic failure
  • How to ensure the data you use truly reflects the materials and conditions in your process.
  • What testing strategies can help ensure safety isn’t just an afterthought, but an integral part of your process design.

This webinar is best for:
